Christmas Cards

Hi everyone.  I hope everyone had a great weekend.  The cards I am posting today were based on a challenge from School of Scrap to use 3 items that I had not used and that were over a year old.  The 3 items I chose are listed below.  They certainly are over a couple of years old.  It was fun finding a way to use these items.

I had an alphabet, snowflake garland and some trim.  Plus a piece of paper I had for a long time.

This first card is a 9"x4" card on kraft card stock.  I inked the garland and banner.  I then added blue Stickles to the center of the snow flakes.

This card was based on a "Sketchie" from the School of Scrap.  Here I used the red Christmas trim and cut snowflakes from the garland.  I like using some non-traditional colors in my cards sometimes.
If you are a scrapbooker or card maker, you might like to check out www.schoolofscrap.com.  Right now they are offering a two week free trial and it is a lot of fun.

Thanks for checking my blog and I hope everyone has a great week.

Use Your Scraps

Hi everyone,
I hope everyone had a good week.  I am so glad it is Friday.  One more day and it is my weekend, too.  After I make cards there are always scraps left.  Here is an easy and fun way I make use of them.
I cut my scraps into strips of different widths and heights.  I store them in a jar and then when the jar is full I make scrap cards with them.  Here are a few examples:

This is the jar I store my scraps in.  I put adhesive on the front of the card and paste the strips down in a random order.   It is nice to have these cards done so that when you need a fast card you can just add embellishments or stickers.

For this card I just added a few stickers and the card was done.  Quick and easy!!!

This card I used a little more of a pattern with the scraps.  These are scraps from past Christmas card making sessions.  I put a few embellishments on it and it was done.    I have even made a set of 8 cards  with just the scraps on them and given them as note cards.  What is fun, you can always find a paper to match the card and make an envelope.  I hope you give this a try with some of the scraps you have.

I would like to thank you for taking time to check my blog.  I hope everyone has a terrific weekend.  No more snow!!!!  THANKS!!!

First Christmas Card of the Season

Hi!  I finally got around to making Christmas Cards.  After painting on Saturday, I could only make one card but I think it turned out great.  The card was made with the new Sizzix die set that makes a flipit card.  It certainly takes all the guess work out of making difficult cards.   The cards are really easy to make with these new dies.

I used a decorated card stock for the base and I love the polka dots!   I think once you have all your papers organized you could use this dies to make a lot of cards fast.  They use a little more paper and I have to remember to have enough paper left to make an envelope.  The cards from these dies are A2 or 5 1/2 by 4 1/4.  I found the dies online at eBay but they should be in the craft stores soon.  Remeber if you need any special cards, let me know.  I hope everyone has a good week.  Rumor has it that we might see our first snowflakes flying here in Cleveland later in the week.  Thanks for checking out my blog!

Christmas Door Decorations

Hi Everyone
Sorry I missed posting yesterday but it has been a busy week.  I am so glad the government has reopened and we are getting paid now.  Today I worked on some Christmas decorations.  I made one for my sister and one for me.  I will be starting on some Christmas cards either tomorrow or Monday.I painted these signs on canvas and wired ribbons to them.

I thought these would be something different to hang on the door.  Let me know what you think.
Thanks for taking time to look at my blog and I hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

New Cards

Hi Everyone,
I hope everyone had a great weekend!  The weather was beautiful.  I attended one of my dear friend's weddings and it was amazing.  I made a couple of new cards this morning using a "sketchie" from www.schoolofscrap.com.  I have made one other card this size.  They turned out better than I thought they would.  It is fun stepping out of your comfort zone and challenging youself to try something new.

This is the card I made from the "sketchie".  I love the colors.

This card is a wedding card I made.  You can put your check or money in this without it being folded.

I hope you enjoyed these cards and maybe they inspired you to do something that is new and different.  Thanks for checking out my blog!  Have a great week!

My Other Hobby, Painting

Hi everyone,
It is another beautiful fall day today!  I hope you all can enjoy it a little, even if it is just going outside on your break.  I just finished painting a serving plate for a friend of mine who holds wine tasting outings in Avon Lake.  Her facebook page is Kreation Station-check it out if you get a chance.  I don't paint alot anymore but I do enjoy it.

I also worked on some cards this week.  I got a new die cutting set and made the card below.  The other cards I made using fall colors-even though I thought I was through with fall.  I just love all the colors.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.  Thanks for taking the time to check out my blog.  Please join me in hoping the government shutdown is over soon.  It certainly affects me and alot of my friends.  Thanks!!!

More Fall Cards

Hi Everyone,
It is Monday again!  WOW!  I made a few cards over the weekend and went to a craft show in Findlay.  I am winding down on making fall cards and starting to think about Christmas.  It will be here before you know it.  So after this week, I will start making Christmas cards.

I love all the colors of fall and craft cardstock makes the perfect card for fall colors.

I took this picture of the moon and thought it would look good in a Halloween card.

I do like these napkin fold cards and once you have done a couple, they are really easy to do.

I hope everyone has a good week. I will be attending a virtual crop at www.schoolofscrap.com tonight at 8:00PM.  It is alot of fun.  I will post the new cards I make this week.  Join us!   Keep your fingers crossed that the Shutdown ends soon,.  A paycheck would be nice!  Thanks for checking out my blog!

Fun Fall Cards

Hi Everyone,
Hard to believe it is Friday already.  I have been working on some fall cards but it feels like summer right now in Cleveland, Ohio.  I guess we need to enjoy these nice days while we can because the snow will be flying before we know it!  Here are the cards I have been working on:

I love all the fall papers and colors!  This card and the one below are easy to make and really look impressive.  I am trying to stock up on some cards so I am having a great time making them!  And it will be even more fun sharing them.

Yellow, my favorite color!

This a card I did from a video on www.schoolofscrap.com .  I love the stars and the saying inside.

The saying reminds me of something my dear friend Jeanne Bice always said.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!  Thanks for checking out the blog and my cards.  Please let me know if you have any questions about any of the cards.  If you ever need a special card made-let me know.  Thanks again!!!
